Harry Potter Premiere? Not Here

Lexington Venue won't have Deathly Hallows Part: 2.

Harry Potter fans will have to apparate out of Lexington to catch the premiere of "Deathly Hallows: Part 2," which opens at midnight in many U.S. theaters.

, the downtown theater, is an independent and primarily shows limited releases, so they don't expect to be hosting the Potter series' final installment -- at least not anytime soon, said Julia Miville, the theater's general manager.

"If we would get it, it would be at the very end of the run," said Miville, who noted the Venue staff keeps a copy of a newspaper with movie times under the ticket and refreshment counters.

But fret not, fans of witchcraft and wizardry. To see the last stand of the Boy Who Lived against the Dark Lord requires no spells or potions -- just a short drive out of town.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" opens at noontime tomorrow at Arlington's Capital Theatre, and will be showing all day at the AMC Theatres in Burlington, the Showcase Cinemas in Woburn and the Embassy Cinema in Waltham, among others.

While Lexington has hardly been transfigured into Hogwarts, that doesn't mean local muggles pay no mind to the Potterverse.

There's not a copy of "Deathly Hallows," the seventh and final installment of author JK Rowling's epic Harry Potter series, to be found on the shelves of or .  

Cary's six copies are all checked out, and there's a waiting list for folks to get their hands on one of the Minuteman Library Network's 300-plus copies, librarians said Tuesday afternoon.

According to library data, "Deathly Hallows" has been checked out more than 160 times and renewed another 71 times since arriving on at the library in 2007.

Each book in the series has been very popular with young and old readers, but Ruth Nadelman Lynn, head of children's services, said there's been more interest since the start of summer, when school let out and folks realized when the final Harry Potter film was coming out.

"They continue to be popular, all of the books," said Lynn. "People are going back and re-reading the whole series."

While books are in short supply, Potter fans can head over to , which has several packages of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans on display. These Jelly Bellys list booger and earwax alongside more traditionally flavored jelly beans.

The candy shop also sometimes carries fudge frogs and is trying to hurry and stock some other Harry Potter candies, said Melina Sim, the store manager.
