Retailers Association Trick-or-Treat Postponed

With State of Emergency declared for town of Lexington, the town's Retailers Association has postponed its annual Trick-or-Treat with Lexington Businesses event.

The Lexington Retailers Association has postponed its annual Treat or Treat with Lexington’s Businesses event, the latest in a string of cancellations or postponements after Saturday night's October storm knocked out power, traffic signals and trees around town.

According to the LRA, the decision to postpone the Trick or Treat was made due to the declared State of Emergency in the town of Lexington.

Currently, many businesses and many traffic lights do not have power, making it impossible for some businesses to participate as planned unsafe for children to cross streets in some places.

"Our goal is to reschedule the event, possibly for this Thursday, Nov. 3," the Retailers Association said in a press release. "However that decision must be made in consultation with the Lexington Police Department and based on knowing that safe conditions will exist for all children at all businesses."

Police have also advised parents against allowing children to trick-or-treat tonight and Nov. 3 is the date some residents have floated as a possible day to reschedule regular trick-or-treating.
