The 5th
Annual 5K Road Race will take place in Lexington, MA on January 4, 2014 at 11 
a.m. featuring a fast, flat route through historic Lexington with the start and finish location at Lexington High School.  

The 5th Annual Resolution Run to Kick Cancer will be kicking off the New Year on Saturday, January 4, 2014 starting at 11:00 am at the Lexington High School Field House in Lexington, MA.   All proceeds from the event will go to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, and the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Unit.



Think winter running is hard? Try battling cancer.” is the Resolution Run to Kick Cancer’s motto and last year over 950 runners and walkers took up the cause.   This year’s event is welcoming several school teams, running groups, corporate, family and friend-based teams.   The Resolution Run to Kick Cancer will also be having an EXPO beginning at 9:00 am in the Lexington High School Field House.  There will be several cancer related exhibits, clothing and shoe vendors, and sampling including

  • Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (beneficiary)

  • Tufts Medical Center Floating Hospital for Children’s Hematology Oncology Unit (beneficiary)

  • YouScience

Included in the EXPO is an on site bone marrow drive sponsored by Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation.   Volunteers will be swabbing cheeks to see if participants match for cancer patients in need.  In 2013 a match was found!

RR2KC brings people of all ages and athletic abilities out on a winter day to make a difference in the lives of those battling cancer. School teams, running groups, and corporate, family and friend-based teams are encouraged to sign up to run or walk the 3.1 mile course. Whether you want to win your age group or team category, challenge yourself with a new fitness goal, or support a loved one, participating in the 5K road race is a “win-win” for everyone. 



The race begins at 11:00 am at the Lexington High School Field House with a fast flat course through historical Lexington.  This is a family fun event with awards and food. Registration is $30.00 ($35.00 day of event).  Awards will be given for Male/Female - Top 3 finishers overall, Top 3 in each age group, and Top 3 Cancer Patients/Survivors.  There will also be an On Site Photo Booth for team and individual pictures, and lots of food and fun for everyone. 



For the fourth consecutive year, Ipswitch, Inc. is the RR2KC Elite sponsor. Ipswitch is a Lexington based software company committed to making a difference in its community. Other Lexington-based companies supporting the race this year include Agenus, Greater Boston Running Company, The Inn at Hastings Park, Backbay Sedan, Saucony, The Higgins Group, JM McClaughlin and Tricon.  The Greater Boston Running Company is donating technical t-shirts to the first 450 registrants.
