Concord Area CROP Walk for the Hungry

The 33rd annual Concord Area CROP Walk for the Hungry will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2013. Music and registration begins at 1:30PM and the Walk begins at 2:15PM.

The Walk steps off from First Parish in Concord, 20 Lexington Road, Concord and follows a beautiful 7 km route that passes through the National Park, across the Old North Bridge, and up Nashawtuc Hill. The CCHS Pep Band will play from 1:30 to 2:00PM in front of the church and the Yankee Stompers Dixieland Jazz Band will play in the parish hall at the finish of the Walk.

Locally, CROP Walk supports Acton Community Supper and Food Pantry, Mt. Calvary Community Meal, Bedford Community Table/Pantry, Open Table Concord, Open Table Maynard, Maynard Food Pantry, Sudbury Community Food Pantry, Gaining Ground, Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, and Townsend Ecumenical Outreach.  Nationally, CROP Walk funds provide blankets and hygiene kits for domestic disaster response when tornados, hurricanes and flooding happen, as occurred in Colorado recently; as well as providing training for long term recovery. Globally, funds go to Church World Service for fighting the root causes of hunger through community development programs in 80 underdeveloped countries.
