Engineer's Workshop with Minuteman

Join Minuteman Community Education for Engineer's Workshop for students entering grades 6 - 9!

If you like taking things apart just to see how it works, if you like to invent weird new contraptions, and if you like to meet challenges with creativity, this class is for you. In the style of Mr. Wizard's World, MacGyver, Mythbusters, and How It's Made, the Engineer's Workshop teaches the science, physics, and math behind things that fly, race, lift, launch, heat, and protect. In this hands-on two-week class, students will use simple hand tools, including hot glue guns and hobby knives, to transform everyday materials into machines, structures and contraptions that explore basic principles of technology and engineering.  We will adhere to strict safety rules in order to ensure the proper use of all tools. Past projects have included Paper Gliders, Mouse Trap Cars, Popsicle Stick Bridges and Towers, Solar Hot Dog Cookers, and Protective Egg Capsules.

Classes run:
July 7 - 18, 8:30 - 11:30 am

July 21 - August 1, 8:30 - 11:30 am
