The 14 member Bay Colony Brass (BCB), under the direction of Matthew Erickson, will be making its first Lexington appearance this Saturday January 26, 2013, at 7:30pm at Hancock Church.
The all brass program, which runs approximately 90 minutes, features works by Verdi, Shostakovich, Wagner and Grainger.
Founded in 2000, BCB bridges the Atlantic by combining the traditions of the British brass band with those of the American brass ensemble, wind band and orchestra. The group performs a broad range of repertoire spanning five centuries of brass, orchestral, and popular music. In the course of a performance, BCB will often take you from the 1550s through and beyond the 1950s on a journey of musical enjoyment and enrichment.
Lexington resident and Hancock church member Robert John, trumpeter, is in his third year with the group, and will be performing on Saturday.
Hancock church is located at 1912 Mass Ave, next to the Lexington common. Parking is available immediately in front of the church, or in the parking lot in the rear of the building, through the stone archway. While admission is free, a donation of $10 per person is encouraged and appreciated.
