Lexington Community Education presents: The Behavior of Wings: A Staged Reading by Steve Bogart

Steve Bogart, playwright, stage director, teacher, visual artist and former drama teacher at Lexington High School will present a staged reading of his new work, The Behavior of Wings, a coming-of-age story about an 18 year old woman who drops out of her freshman year of college and travels to Mexico's Michoacan mountain forest to reunite with the father she hasn't seen in ten years.

Steve is an Artist-in-Residence at Southern New Hampshire University, adjunct professor at Emerson College, and the University of New Orleans. His plays have performed in Boston, NYC, and Chicago. His play, Pigcat was the recipient of the Holland New Voice Award at the 2010 Great Plains Theater Conference. He was also a 2009 Massachusetts Cultural Council Grant recipient in playwriting. Last year Bogart was invited to participate in the Kennedy Center Summer Playwriting Intensive, and this past Summer he was invited to participate in the Freedom Art Theater Retreat where he will work with other playwrights, designer and dramaturges.  This winter Bogart will direct a project at the Oberon based on a new Neil Gaiman short story for the local Boston theater company, Liars and Believers. In the Spring, he will direct The Rocky Horror Show at Southern New Hampshire University, and will devise a new piece based on the Boston Abolitionist Movement for the American Repertory Theater Institute.
