The Temple Isaiah Rummage Sale is coming up fast. The sale itself will take place on Mon-Wed, October 22, 23, 24, but first we need to collect the goods.

On Sunday, October 21, from 9 am til 1 pm, we will be accepting donations at the temple, located at 55 Lincoln Street, Lexington (across from the Lincoln fields). We'll hopefully have some strapping young men from the three local Boy Scout troops available to help lift and carry, so don't worry about that.

Why should you donate your stuff to Temple Isaiah? Everything that is donated ends up in the hands of  customers in need or other non-profits. We don't throw anything out (unless it's in really bad condition.) At the end of the sale, the Epilepsy Foundation takes all the leftover  clothing. Another non-profit will take the housewares.  More Than Words collects the leftover books.

We have customers that come in from the most challenging areas of Boston, every year, because they know they can clothe their families for a fraction of retail.
We have customers who come year after year to collect goods to ship to third world countries (and we generally cut them a big break on pricing). In other words, we're not just about raising money - we're about doing good. Of the money that is raised, the bulk gets passed on to local non-profits and worldwide humanitarian causes.

In particular, we're looking for gently used clothing of all kinds, but especially winter clothes, children's clothes and higher end womens clothing. Clothing that is already on hangers are very much appreciated. We will also take:

Shoes:
Only boots and shoes in excellent condition. Please tie shoes together or secure
pairs with a rubber band.

Books:
No text books, encyclopedias or magazines. Children's books are especially
welcome. All left-over books are donated at the end of the sale.

Linens:
Tape sheet sets together and label with their size. (Twin, Double, Queen, King)

Toys:
NO BIKES PLEASE! (Contact Bikes Not Bombs instead - or drop at the Lexington DPW
facility)

Childrens toys are always hot items. Puzzles, games, etc. Tape all boxes.

Baby:
Because of safety concerns, we cannot accept car seats, strollers, or cribs. We CAN accept those soft sided portable travel cribs.  We
always run out of baby clothes and clothes for young children.

Jewelry:
Our customers love our jewelry section, so please bring pieces you are no longer
wearing. If you have many items, please contact irenenan@...  soon so your
items can be tagged and priced in advance. We have a couple of experts who can
recognize items of higher value.

Household Items:
Dishes, Bric-a-brac, pots, kitchen tools and art are good sellers. But please,
no plastic wear or baskets.

PLEASE REMEMBER:
No electronics, No large furniture, No rugs, No sporting goods, No underwear, No stained clothes, please.

If you cannot be available to bring your donations on October 21, we may be able to make special arrangements - please contact Irene at irenenan@... to see what can be arranged.

Thank you.

Lastly, don't forget to stop by on October 22, 23 & 24 and SHOP! We're open 9 a.m. til 7 pm on Monday and Tuesday, closing around noon on Wednesday. Tuesday is "half price" day, Wednesday you can fill paper grocery bags (supplied) for a fixed price of $6. / bag (3 for $15)!

Thanks in advance for your donations, and for shopping with us!
