Information Session on a possible RFP for solar installations on municipal and school facilities

On behalf of the Board of Selectmen, the Lexington Solar Taskforce will be holding an information session to discuss options for municipal solar facilities. In April of 2013 Town Meeting voted unanimously to approve a bylaw amendment that makes it possible for the town to use solar generated electricity to meet all or part of its municipal electricity needs. The Solar Taskforce is hosting this information session to discuss what that means for the Town and to gather your feedback. We will examine the potential for solar installations on municipal and school building roofs as well as a possible ground mounted array at the Hartwell avenue site. The information session is expected to answer 3 key questions for interested residents:

  1. What is the Town's Solar Potential - how much electricity could be produced and where could it be produced?

  2. What additional information do we need in order to make a go / no go decision on solar for the Town?
  3. What are the immediate planned next steps?

Please join us on the evening of September 25, 2013 for an informed discussion on Lexington's Solar Potential.
