Lexington Symphony Presents Music for Brass, Strings, and Chorus

Join Music Director Jonathan McPhee and Lexington Symphony for a very special program featuring various sections of the orchestra performing music that is uniquely their own. Lexington Symphony’s fantastic brass section plays the music of Susato (La Mourisque) and Gabrieli (Brass Ensemble), evoking the grandeur of an age where brass ruled. The strings play three works: Arensky’s Variations on a Theme by Tchaikovsky, Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, and Capriole Suite by the mysterious composer known as Peter Warlock. Following up on the success of the new work the Symphony commissioned from composer Michael Gandolfi last season entitled Fortune, Fate, and The Fool, the evening comes to a close with a joint performance — with Lexington High School’s Chamber Choir — of Gandolfi’s glorious Winter Light for chorus and strings.
