"Opening of the Doors"

The public is invited to share in a special re-enactment ceremony to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the founding of Framingham State University. Many do not know that Framingham State got its start in the early 19th century in Lexington on the site of today's Masonic Lodge on Bedford Street, the location of the first Normal School in the nation. "Opening of the Doors" will commemorate the first three students to attend this first teacher's college, and the festivities will later continue at the Depot Building, 13 Depot Square, for a special reception and presentation. Free and open to the public. This special event is being jointly sponsored by Framingham State University, the Lexington Historical Society, and the Lexington Masons.
