In Concert with Community

The All-Town Band and Orchestra Concerts are town-wide events for every family to celebrate their child's experience in the music program in the Lexington Public Schools. This year, Ben Stix of the Concert Band organized an a effort to help the Lexington Food Pantry in conjunction with his group's performance. After the holidays, in January, he learned that the Pantry is not so much in need of food as it is of personal care items that come in handy during the cold & flu season. Stix got the word out to bandmates in all the schools and staffed a drive table  in the lobby with volunteers before the concert. The response was generous. A delivery of over 250 items including tissues, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap and hand lotion was delivered to The Lexington Food Pantry that weekend. Stix's goal is for the drive to be an annual effort by the Concert Band.
