Fun Pubs, Bars, and Night Spots on Cape Cod

Whether you’re a vacationer, a seasonal resident, or a year-round Cape Cod dweller, chances are you’re going to want to kick back and relax sometime. Maybe you’re looking for an evening out, a good spot for a bachelor or bachelorette party, or just a great place to grab a drink on the water on a hot summer afternoon. Fortunately, the Cape has something for everyone.

Cozy Pubs and Delicious Dining

The Cape is known for its abundant and delicious seafood, and it’s no surprise that many of the area’s bars are located inside restaurants. British Beer Company features several locations around the Cape, including Falmouth, Dennis, and Hyannis.

Pubs and taverns abound if you’re in the mood for a bite to eat and a cold drink. The baseball-themed Hot Stove Saloon in Harwichport serves up New England pub fare as well as a variety of reasonably-priced beer and wine. Moby Dick Pub at the Bayside Resort Hotel in West Yarmouth is themed like an old fishermen’s bar and features large-screen TVs for sports aficionados – customers have papered the ceiling with signed dollar bills sharing advice and wisdom for future visitors.

For a more intimate experience, try Provincetown’s Shipwreck Lounge for a cocktail or after-dinner martini by the indoor fireplace or the courtyard fire pit.

Cocktails With a View

If you’re looking for cocktails and appetizers on the waterfront, Brax Landing in Harwich features breathtaking views from its patio overlooking Sasquatucket Harbor. The Black Cat in Hyannis offers patrons harbor views from its outdoor patio as well as entertainment every Thursday through Saturday in the lounge. Also located in Hyannis is Trader Ed’s, which offers up views of the marina and harbor and weekday happy hours as well as clam bakes, lobster dinners, and live entertainment. Harbor Lounge on the pier in Provincetown is the place for a leisurely afternoon drink enjoying sweeping views of the town harbor.

Music and Dancing

Live music can be heard bursting from bars and pubs all over the Cape.

Grumpy’s Pub in Falmouth features bands from all over New England as well as local groups playing a variety of music from blues to rock to reggae.  Or dance the night away at the Cape’s “best dance club,” The Beachcomber, located in Wellfleet. With awards too numerous to name, this casual bar draws in crowds of surfers, beach bums, and tourists with live music, great drinks, and a friendly atmosphere.

The Cape’s oldest entertainment hot spot is the Improper Bostonian in Dennis Port. Multiple venues offer everything from pool tables and beer specials to live music and DJs.

In Hyannis, visit Pufferbellies Dance Emporium, one of the Cape’s largest dance clubs with multiple floors and DJs. Depending on the night you visit, you can dance the night away to swing, line dancing, disco, hip hop, or techno. Sundancer’s, located in West Dennis serves New England seafood favorites indoors or on its waterfront deck with great live acts most nights featuring everything from reggae to Sinatra to 80s music.

Entertainment

From comedy to karaoke, the Cape’s many bars and restaurants offer something for every taste. The Chatham Squire features a restaurant with a huge bar and entertainment options that include live music, DJs, and karaoke.

Cape Cod Comedy Lounge doles out the laughs year-round in Hyannis. Located inside the Doubletree Hotel, the venue offers advance ticketing for some acts.

Provincetown is home to a nightlife all its own. Club Purgatory offers up theme nights featuring karaoke, flashback music night, and Latin/Euro night. At The Crown and Anchor, you’ll find a poolside bar, a piano bar, a cabaret venue, and even a video bar.

Wherever you live, stay, or visit on the Cape, you’re sure to find just the ticket to your brand of relaxation or fun. From seaside cocktails to acoustic music to pulsing dance beats, the Cape has something to offer everyone.
