Jay Kaufman's "Closed House"
I just read that Jay Kaufman, the TV host for an “Open House” forum in Lexington last night (September 23) explained his decision not to invite two Democrats who are on the ballot—myself and Paul Maisano. He was reported as saying that there was absolutely no evidence that these campaigns would affect the outcome.
Certainly not if we are not given access to public forums. This is a self-fulfilling prophecy. I won’t let you speak: therefore, you can’t possibly win.

In the debates in which I have participated, it was generally acknowledged that I had plenty to contribute—in the way of new ideas (I won’t enumerate them here, but there are at least four altogether big new ideas). What’s wrong with new ideas forcefully put?

I guess that if no one allows me to speak, I won’t have much of an impact after all. I suggest that Mr. Kaufman retitle his show “Closed House.”
