Barrett Volunteers Uncover Voter Priorities

Door to Door Canvassers for Mike Barrett's State Senate Campaign Uncover Voter Priorities

Door to door canvassers for Mike Barrett, candidate for State Senate, have found that Democratic voters this year are focused on five issues: health care costs, jobs and the economy, integrity in government, climate change, and elementary and secondary education, in that order.

Throughout a summer of face-to-face conversations, health care costs and the economy have vied neck in neck for top ranking as most mentioned issue.  Barrett and his campaign volunteers always ask voters to name the topic that is most important to them.  The results, Barrett says, enable him to understand what voters want.

Twenty-five percent of Democratic voters talked to by Barrett volunteers named health care as most important; 24 percent, jobs and the economy.  Percentages for the other concerns in the top five: integrity in government (10 percent), climate change (9 percent), and elementary and secondary education (8 percent).
