Frank Reaffirms: He's For Barrett

In the wake of endorsements in the local State Senate race by other members of the Congressional delegation, Cong. Barney Frank has reasserted his support for candidate Mike Barrett.

Speaking to reporters last week, Frank said it was unusual for him to get involved in a Democratic primary for Mass. State Senate but Barrett was the exception. "He was an excellent legislator," Frank explained – "a very effective advocate for progressive causes.”

Frank’s comments added to statements he made in the spring, in which he explained that his backing of Barrett stemmed from "Mike's integrity, idealism, effectiveness and understanding of the legislative process."  

Barrett has also been endorsed by Carol Amick, former State Senator for the area; Jay Kaufman, State Representative for Lexington; and James Hoyte, former Secretary of Environmental Affairs under Governor Mike Dukakis.
