Award Winning Historian, Author and Lexington High Grad, Dies at 95

James MacGregor Burns, a Pulitzer-prize winning historian who attended Lexington High School, died on Tuesday at the age of 95 in his home town of Williamstown, reported iBerkshires.com. 

Burns graduated from Williams College in 1939; there, he was the Woodrow Wilson Professor of Government, Emeritus. He also wrote more than 20 books on history and political science, known for co-authoring "Government By the People." He was born Burlington before going to high school in Lexington and then Harvard University, as well as London School of Economics, said iBerkshires.com. 

He also ran for a spot in congress in 1958, and went to four Democratic National Conventions as a delegate. 

Burns won the Pulitzer for "Roosevelt: The Soldier of Freedom," which came out in 1971.
