Community Corner

In Lexington, "the birthplace of American liberty," conservatives and Republicans fear reprisals for speaking their minds

In a recent article in the "Colonial Times," Lexington resident Harry Forsdick is praised for creating a sense of "community" with the public forums that he has developed: the Lexington List and the Lex-PolRel (Politics-Religion) List.  However, conservative Republicans and right Libertarians need not apply, for when they dare to express their opinions on these lists, they are quickly shouted down and shut out by Harry and his liberal, progressive Democrat allies.  If the opinions expressed by conservative Republicans and right Libertarians become sufficiently annoying to Mr. Forsdick, he will find an excuse to "ban" from his lists these opponents of his leftist comrades in order that the liberal, progressive Democrat party line opinions may continue to be expressed with no opposition.  Thus, the type of "community" that Mr. Forsdick has created is one that not only reflects his own liberal biases and Democrat politics, but is a "community" that does not welcome opinions opposing or dissenting from the liberal orthodoxy.  Is this the type of "community" that reflects the illustrious history of Lexington as a place of rebellion and revolutionary thinking and action, or is it a "community" of like-minded individuals exhibiting the intolerance of the left?
