Introduction to the Lexington Technological Landscapes Series

The Technological Landscapes series will capture the stories behind the technological achievements that Lexington's diverse engineering and manufacturing-based companies experience.

Over the past 50 years, Lexington has become a dynamic incubator for technological achievement.

The incubator industries are diverse, from defense-oriented organizations like MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory and BAE Systems to biotech companies like Shire and Cubist. For each organization there are stories to be told of breakthrough technology, the technologists who created the excitement and the stories within the stories that define the pursuit of ascendant and often times broken dreams.

The Lexington “Technological Landscapes” is a new Lexington Patch column designed to capture the essence of this ever-evolving cornucopia of scientific research, development, technology and engineering. The series will focus on the wonderment inherent in the struggle to make new commercial products against formidable technological issues and continuously shrinking time-lines.
