Woman Struck by Vehicle After Running Out in Front of Fire Engine

A 20-year-old woman is said to have been struck by a vehicle after running into the street in front of a fire engine.

Update 9:01 p.m. 

A woman has been transported to the hospital after being struck by a motor vehicle. 

Lexington Police Department Lt. John Nazerall said that a 20-year-old woman was transported to the hospital after she apparently ran out into Bedford Street on Wednesday night. Nazerall said the woman ran out in front of Lexington Fire Department's fire engine Ladder 1, which did not strike her, but she was hit by a vehicle traveling west on Bedford Street near Carol Lane. 

Shortly after 9 p.m. Bedford Street was still closed but Nazerall said it will be open soon.

There are reports of a motor vehicle accident on Bedford Street involving a pedestrian. 

According to the scanner and Twitter reports, emergency crews are responding to a scene where an individual was struck by a motor vehicle. The individual has been transported to the hospital. 

Currently Bedford Street is closed between Revere Street and Worthen Road, the reports state.
