Former Lexington High Student Arraigned on School Shooting Threat

A former Lexington High student was arraigned Friday after he and a Belmont juvenile allegedly sent group text messages Thursday threatening to shoot up the school.

Myles Fulton Penniman, 20, of 7 Parker St., Lexington, pleaded not guilty Friday in Concord District Court to making a bomb threat and disrupting a school, according to the Boston Globe.

Penniman, a Clark University student who played basketball at Lexington, had his bail set at $5,000 and was placed on house arrest and GPS monitoring, according to the report.

As a result of the texts, Lexington High dismissed students at about 1 p.m. Thursday.

In the texts, Penniman and the minor, a Belmont High student, referenced the massacres at Columbine High School and Newtown’s Sandy Hook Elementary School. They also wrote that they would start with the “Lab Kids.” Lexington High houses the LABBB Collaborative, an area program for students with special needs.

According to police, via the Boston Globe, Penniman admitted to writing the texts with the Belmont teen but said they were meant as a joke.
