A daytime drunk turned especially ugly last Tuesday, Sept. 13, when arrested a man without an address and took into protective custody a highly intoxicated 18-year-old Lexington woman.
Just before 6:30 p.m., police received a call reporting a female was lying down on the sidewalk between Busa Wine and Spirits and the on Bedford Street.
Upon arrival, officers found a highly intoxicated, 18-year-old female staggering around in heavy traffic, as well as an intoxicated, uncooperative and apparently homeless man who was also stumbling around the scene.
Police eventually got the girl to sit on the bench in front of Fire Headquarters and to phone her mother, who reportedly declined to collect her daughter from the scene. At that point, the young woman was taken into protective custody.
The man, 23-year-old Richard F. Pourro, who has no known address, was more difficult. According to the incident report, Pourro was highly intoxicated and refused to cooperate with officers as they attempted to search and speak with him and attend to the girl.
Pourro was arrested on charges of being a disorderly person and resisting arrest.
From the information available on Friday, Sept. 16, it was unclear when, where and how the two became intoxicated, but the incident report did not indicate Pourro faced charges of providing a minor with alcohol.
The relationship between the man and young woman was also unclear based on information available in the police report.
