Lexington Man Temporarily Banned from Boston for Alleged Graffiti

A Lexington man and an Arlington teen allegedly spray painted roughly 27 light poles in Boston’s Back Bay early Monday morning.

 Andrew Vesprini, 27, and Isaac Lehman, 18, were arrested by Boston Police at about 2:03 a.m. Monday and charged with damage to property by graffiti, according to a Boston Police Department release.

The two appeared in front of Boston Municipal Court Judge Sally Kelly later Monday. Kelly released both men on their own recognizance with orders to stay out of the City of Boston and abide by a curfew of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. while their cases are pending, according to Suffolk County District Attorney spokesman Jake Wark.

Kelly also ordered Vesprini to enter a residential drug treatment program after he stated on the record that he has a substance abuse problem, Wark said.

On Monday morning, Boston Police responded to the area of Boylston Street and Massachusetts Avenue for a report of vandalism in progress. Once there, officers met with Berklee College Public Safety officers who tracked the suspects to a pizza shop on Boylston Street, according to the release.

One of the suspects had silver and black spray paint on his hands in the pizza shop, the other had it on his backpack, police said. The poles, near 200 Massachusetts Ave., were tagged with silver and black spray paint, some of which was still wet to the touch, according to police.

Lehman was represented by attorney Paul Derby, and Vesprini by the Committee for Public Counsel Services.

Their next court date is Friday, Feb. 8.
