LPD Nabs Alleged Prostitute Staying in Local Hotel

Aug. 2 sting resulted in the arrest of a 23-year-old woman allegedly working out of the Quality Inn just off Rt. 128/95.

 

Acting on tips from hotel staff and information culled from seedy Internet ads, Thursday night arrested a 23-year-old woman on charges of selling sex inside a room of a Bedford Street hotel.

Police had received a tip earlier in the week from staff at the on Bedford Street, and followed up on that by reviewing websites where prostitutes passing through the area are known to advertise their services. Investigators executed a sting operation at 9:55 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 2, and arrested Kaylynn M. Dyer, 23, of 15 Bussey St., Dedham, on prostitution charges.

Police in Lexington have made , most of them involving an alleged prostitute passing through the area and staying for a while in a hotel or apartment in town.

According to Lt. Det. Michael McLean of the Lexington Police Department, these alleged prostitutes may take up a room in Lexington due to its location along Route 128/95, a major highway that bisects the town.

McLean said local hotels are good about informing police when guests appear to be engaging in illicit activity, such as prostitution. Police also use technological tools and interagency communication to keep tabs on these kind of vice activities around town. 

“Obviously we take these things very seriously and don’t tolerate this kind of activity in our town,” McLean said.
