Man Arrested After Two Break Into NSTAR Property, Pedestrian Foot Run Over

The following information was provided by the Lexington Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, September 27-

At 4:30 p.m. a Dane Road caller reported a found purse.

At 8:18 p.m. there was a report of an erratic driver at the corner of Revere Street and Honcock Street.

Saturday, September 28-

Arrest: Police arrested John Kelly, 47, of 280 South Road, Bedford, on charges of possession of burglary tools, trespassing, attempt to commit a crime, malicious destruction of property over $250 and breaking into a depository of valuables.

According to police at 10:46 a.m. there was a report of a burglary/breaking and entering at the NSTAR property on Massachusetts Avenue. Video surveillance showed two men climbing over a fence and later showed them climbing back over and running into the woods. Police responded and set up a perimeter and Chelmsford and Billerica police departments assisted with K9 units. The Chelmsford K9 unit located Kelly hiding in the woods.

At 9:49 p.m. a Preston Road caller reported a noise disturbance. It was kids yelling in the area.

Sunday, September 29-

Police placed a Lexington woman into protective custody.

At 12:17 p.m. a Forest Street caller reported a lost handicap placard.

At 1:12 p.m. there was a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian in Lot-1 behind Waltham Street. A car backed over a person injuring their foot. 

At 4:51 p.m. there was a report of stolen sewer cover at Jonas Stone Circle and East Emerson Road. Police on patrol units located a storm drain cover missing and were able to box it off with barrel and notified DPW.
