Police Log: An Alleged Shovel Assault and a Crane in the Street

The following information was provided by the Lexington Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Jan. 28

9:03 a.m. – A cell phone was reportedly found on Hastings Road.

3:15 p.m. – A Lowell Street resident reported her W-2 looked like it had already been opened when it arrived by mail, and said she was concerned about ID theft. Police advised her on how to check with credit bureau.

6:14 p.m. – Officers investigated a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of Bedford Street and Hartwell Avenue.

Tuesday, Jan. 29

7:57 a.m. – Police responded to a reported neighbor dispute on Marrett Road and spoke with a man who said his neighbor’s son had threatened him by yelling and holding a shovel to his head. Avery A. Fitzgerald, 20, of 259 Marrett Road, Lexington, was arrested and charged with assault by a dangerous weapon (the shovel) and disorderly person.

10:30 a.m. – An employee of a Bedford Street business reported receiving a suspicious phone call.

2:35 p.m. – Police responded to a reported theft from an unlocked locker on Bedford Street.

5:36 p.m. – Officers investigated a reported motor vehicle accident on Concord Avenue.

7:57 p.m. – A snow blower was reportedly stolen from a rear yard on School Street.

Wednesday, Jan. 30

7:28 a.m. – Officers investigated a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of Waltham Street and Grapevine Avenue.

8:05 a.m. – Police responded to a report of a crane in the street, unloading materials in the area of Concord Avenue.

2:08 p.m. – Police responded to a report of a suspicious motor vehicle in the area of Saddle Club Road.

3:24 p.m. – A call came in reporting a residential lockout on Highland Avenue.

6 p.m. – A deer was reportedly struck by a motor vehicle in the area of Route 2 and Waltham Street.

9:59 p.m. – A wallet was found on Brandon Street.

Thursday, Jan. 31

 6:36 a.m. – Police responded to a report of a downed tree limb on Moonhill Road.

11:47 a.m. – A notification came in regarding branches in the roadway in the area of Roosevelt and Wilson roads.

8:04 p.m. – Officers investigated a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of Reed and Park streets.
