Police Log: Drug Arrest, Guy Bagged Buying Booze for Minors

The following information was provided by the Lexington Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, July 8

1:57 a.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the area of Pleasant Street.

7:24 a.m. – Two debit card were reportedly found on Mass Ave.

9:31 a.m. – Officers investigated a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of Mass Ave and Maple Street.

10:39 a.m. – An American flag was reportedly stolen from the Lexington Historical Society. The flag was hung outside the building at Depot Square.

6:19 p.m. – An officer reportedly spotted a man purchase alcohol on Bedford Street and head over to the Stop & Shop parking lot where he allegedly provided it to two minors. The booze was taken to the station and added into evidence, with charges expected to follow, according to the police report.

Tuesday, July 9

3:55 p.m. – Officers investigated a reported motor vehicle accident on Hartwell Avenue.

7:09 p.m. – Police responded to a report of nails in the roadway in the area of Adams Street and Coolidge Ave.

10:29 p.m. – A fireworks complaint came in from the area of Goffe Road.

Wednesday, July 10,

4:40 a.m. – A call came in from Starbucks on Bedford Street reporting a vehicle was running in the parking lot, but it did not appear there was anyone in it. The responding officer found a man slumped over the wheel, apparently passed out. After waking the man, police reportedly found multiple pills—including Oxycodone, diazepam and cyclobenzaprin—in mismatched bottles as well as four bottles of liquid bandages. As a result, John D. Tomsuden, 59, of 4 Elm Ave., Burlington, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of drugs, illegal possession of a Class E substance and illegal possession of a Class B substance. According to police, in addition to the substances found in the vehicle, Tomsuden admitted to taking Klonopin.

9:13 a.m. – Police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Fifer Lane.

11:43 a.m. – A bicycle was reportedly found on Haskell Street.

3:17 p.m. – A bicycle was reportedly stolen from Ledgelawn Avenue. 

4:30 p.m. – A bicycle was reportedly stolen from Patterson Road.

9:34 p.m. – An officer doing surveillance reportedly spotted marijuana activity in the area of Waltham Street and Concord Avenue and subsequently executed a motor vehicle stop. Both of the car’s occupants were given civil citations for marijuana possession and the driver was also charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol for the bottle of Hennessy he had in the car, according to the incident report.  

Thursday, July 11

4:01 a.m. – A cruiser checked out a report of youths hanging out on North Street.

8:35 a.m. – Following a reported domestic in Arlington a suspect fled the area and made his way into Lexington. LPD responded to the Liberty Heights neighborhood, where the suspect was located after a search in the area. Arlington PD made the arrest of James Williams, 25, of 197 Sylvia St., Arlington.

9:07 a.m. – Police responded to a reported past breaking-and-entering to a motor vehicle on Martingale Road.

12:18 p.m. – A suspicious man and woman were reported on Mass Ave.

4:43 p.m. – A report of credit card fraud came in from Bedford Street.

5 p.m. – Police responded to a reported breaking-and-entering to a motor vehicle on Jean Road.

5:15 p.m. – A breaking-and-entering to a motor vehicle was reported on Mass Ave.

6:41 p.m. – As a result of a motor vehicle stop, David M. Eastbrook, 45, of 289 Woburn St., Lexington, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle after his license was suspended, and warrants from Lexington and Billerica for motor vehicle violations.

9:32 p.m. – Two cars were reportedly scratched up at Waxy O’Connors on Hartwell Avenue. Police are investigating.
