Police Log: Man Arrested for OUI After a Hit-and-Run by the Mall

The following information was provided by the Lexington Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, Oct. 12

7:21 a.m. – Animal control was notified of a dead raccoon on Concord Avenue.

8:08 a.m. – Officers investigated a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of Bedford and Hancock streets.

11:21 a.m. – Police responded to a reported hit-and-run accident on Flintlock Road.

1:06 p.m. – Police responded to a reported motor vehicle rollover with entrapment on Pleasant Street. While pulling into a parking space at Wilson Farm, the female driver she thought she could go further and hit the gas too hard, eventually driving off a retaining wall and landing upside down in the field below. The woman was transported to Lahey Clinic with minor injuries, the incident report said.

2:01 p.m. – An East Street resident came into the station to report ordering a digital camera through the mail that was supposedly delivered on Aug. 16, but she never received it.

2:05 p.m.  – A female motorist called reporting her vehicle was involved in an accident on Middlesex Turnpike in Burlington, and she was following the other involved vehicle into Lexington. Police eventually stopped the other vehicle on Woburn Street and, as a result of that stop, David N. Kayanja, 43, of 12 Waverly Lane, Framingham, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor (second offense) and open container violation. Additionally, Burlington Police responded to the scene and cited Kayanja for leaving the scene of the accident. The open container was a pint bottle of what appeared to be vodka or gin, police said.

6:41 p.m. – Police responded to a reported hit-and-run accident in the area of Bedford Street.

7 p.m. – A report of suspicious activity came in from Waltham Street.

9:33 p.m. – Police responded to a reported disabled motor vehicle in the area of Mass Ave and Maple Street.

Saturday, Oct. 13

9:16 a.m. – A Muster Court resident reported an identity theft/fraud outside Lexington.

10:46 a.m. – Police responded to a reported disabled motor vehicle in the area of Marrett and Forbes roads.

11 a.m. – An Outlook Drive resident reported credit card fraud.

12:17 a.m. – Police responded to a reported motorcycle crash in the area of Oakland and Meriam streets.

2:17 p.m. – Officers investigated a reported hit-and-run accident that occurred in the area of Maple Street and Ingleside Road.

9:38 p.m. – Police responded to a reported disabled motor vehicle on Spring Street.

Sunday, Oct. 14

1:10 a.m. – As a result of a traffic stop in the area of Waltham and Allen streets, the allegedly intoxicated passenger of the vehicle was placed into protective custody.

1:53 a.m. – State Police requested that LPD check a house on Ivan Street after locating an abandoned vehicle on highway that might have been involved in an accident. The vehicle’s owner arrived at his residence while police were there, and told the responding officers that a friend picked him up after he hit a deer.  

9:14 a.m. – A Childs Road resident reported the car was egged overnight.

11:33 a.m. – Police responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Bedford Street.

3:13 p.m. – A parking complaint came in regarding a blocked driveway on Mass Ave.

5:24 p.m. – A general disturbance was reported on Marrett Road.
