Possible BB Bandits Buzz Through Lexington

According to police reports, Lexington Police officers this weekend responded to at least seven motor vehicles vandalized, possibly by BBs shot through rear windshields and side windows.

Lexington Police are investigating a series of motor vehicle vandalisms over the weekend that could have been the result of BB bandits making mischief around town.

According to police reports, between Saturday evening and Sunday, officers responded to at least seven motor vehicles vandalized, possibly by BBs shot through rear windshields and side windows. The first incident was reported just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 17 and it’s possible that reports were still coming in Monday morning, when police received word a few windows at the had been broken.

Reports of vandalized vehicles came in from Laconia, Myrtle, North Hancock and Reed streets, as well as Sherburne South Road, Carol Lane and Ledgelawn Avenue.

The reported vandalisms were scattered throughout town, but the apparent time frame indicates the incidents could be connected, Lt. James Barry, a spokesman for the , told Patch Monday afternoon.

At this point in the investigation, police are looking to establish possible links among the vehicles vandalized, or whether they were random acts of mischief, Barry said.

If someone, or a group of individuals were driving, or walking, around town shooting out windows, then there is certainly a criminal aspect to those activities, according to Barry, who noted destruction of property, town bylaw violations for discharging a firearm and other offenses.

Anyone with information about these or other incidents around town should contact Lexington Police Department via the business line at 781-862-1212.
