A woman injured in Tuesday afternoon's accident on Route 128/95 on the Burlington and Lexington line has died, the Massachusetts State Police stated in a release Tuesday night.

"Today at approximately 3 p.m., troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Concord and Danvers responded to a two vehicle crash on I-95 South in the vicinity of Exit 32 in Burlington, near the Lexington line that resulted in a single fatality," the release states.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Burlington Fire Department and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Highways Division.

The victim, a 56 year old female from Framingham, was transported to Lahey Clinic, where she succumbed to her injuries. It is not anticipated that her identity will be released tonight, pending notification of next of kin.

"The facts and circumstances remain under investigation with the assistance of troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section and troopers assigned to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office, but initial indications are that a mattress fell from another vehicle, causing the crash," State Police said.

The State Police are attempting to locate the vehicle which lost the mattress. According to police, it is described as a large dump truck with a white cab and possibly black netting or a tarp partially covering the bed. The bed is reported to be dark in color, with wood along the sides.

At the time of the crash, it was reported to be occupied by two males and carrying multiple additional mattresses. Anyone with information on this incident or the vehicle being sought can contact the Concord State Police Barracks at 978-369-4100.
