Board of Selectmen Meeting Notes

Votes and decisions made at the Board of Selectmen's June 21 meeting.

• The selectmen recognized Anne Grady with the Individual Lifetime Award for her work with the Lexington Historical Commission and her dedication to the preservation of historical sites in Lexington.

• Maureen Carol of Nstar appeared before the board to request a permit to construct electrical conduits and manholes under Mass Avenue to provide services to 1690 Mass Ave. Approved unanimously.

• A new liquor license was granted to Royal Indian Bistro, located at 7 Marion Street. Approved unanimously.

• The liquor license for Vinny T's restaurant, located at 20 Waltham Street, was cancelled for failure to conduct a licensed business. The restaurant has been closed since May. Approved unanimously.

• The owners of located at 10 Muzzey Street, appeared for a hearing on their second liquor violation in three years. Lt. Manny Ferro said an underage person working for the police department was not carded and served a beer on March 25 at 8:30 p.m. The Selectmen voted unanimously to a three-day suspension of the establishment's liquor license, but the restaurant will serve only one day of the suspension in advance. The suspension will occur on a Thursday, which is the day of the infraction, sometime in the next three weeks of the owner's choosing.

• The Board unanimously approved a "Red Flag Policy" to guide the town in preventing credit theft.

• The Board appointed seven individuals – William Dailey, Ric Fulop, David Horton, Virginia Johnson, Pamela Shadley, Deborah Strod and Albert Zabin – to the Busa Land Use Proposal Committee. The members were appointed unanimously.

• The Board unanimously approved the creation of the Sustainable Lexington Committee Charge.

• A task force on how to use the Leary Property, which has been designated for community housing, was unanimously approved by the board.

• Ruyi Restaurant was permitted a common victualler and entertainment license. Approved unanimously.

• The board unanimously approved a new assistant manager at Omni Crushed Grapes and More.

• The Board approved a Class II commercial license for MinutemanTech Automotive, LLC, located at 401 Lowell Street. Final vote 4-1 in favor with Burnell in disagreement.

• The Board approved the Munroe Tavern CPA grant agreement 4-1 with selectman Kelly in disagreement.

• The Board approved Keno-to-Go, to be used without monitors, at VIJ's Convenience Store. The Board voted 3-2 in favor, with selectmen Kelly and Burnell opposed.

• The Board approved appointments for the following positions. Selectmen's appointments to the Permanent Building Committee for work on the White House Historic Structures Report: Frank Kern and Richard Brown. Policy Manual Committee: Jean Krieger. Keeper of the Lockup: Lexington Police Chief Mark Corr. Executive Clerk: Lynne Pease.

• The Board unanimously approved a new employee health insurance coalition that would decrease the town's contribution rate from 85 percent to 80 percent, among other changes. There will also be increases in emergency room co-payments, and other co-payments.
