Campaign Kicks Off to Support School Projects

Dubbed "Yes for Our Schools," a campaign is mobilizing to get school building projects passed for the Bowman, Bridge and Estabrook elementary schools.

Following Town Meeting’s approval this week of a , a campaign has formed to push this, andplans to build a new , through a special election next January.

Having already established a presence on Facebook, the “Yes for Our Schools” campaign will hold its official kickoff meeting on Monday, Nov. 21 at .

The Board of Selectmen on Monday set Jan. 24 as a date for the debt exclusion votes for and Bowman and the Estabrook School building project. Town Meeting approved appropriated in funds for Bridge and that same night and is expected to take up Estabrook this spring.

According to campaign members, the projects are not optional as systems are failing at the Bridge and Bowman schools and Lexington is under federal orders to .

“We need to do this for our children and our community, and we need to do it now,” campaign chair and School Committee member Margaret Coppe said in a statement.
