1. Budgets, Fees and a Special Town Meeting : The School Committee meets at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Town Office Building and its agenda includes discussing recommended budgets and fees for fiscal 2013 and request the Board of Selectmen call a special Town Meeting on April 2 to appropriate funds for the new Estabrook School, contingent upon the passage of the ballot question next Tuesday, Jan. 24.
2. Get Your Papers In: If you're a candidate seeking office in , 5 p.m. today is the deadline to submit signed nomination papers to the Board of Registrars/Town Clerk for certification.
3. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, other public meetings posted for today include: at 9 a.m. at the LexHab headquarters on Militia Drive; the Capital Expenditures Committee at 9 a.m. at the ; the Hanscom Field Advisory Commission at 7 p.m. at the ; the Recreation Committee at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Office Building; the Community Center Task Force at 7:30 p.m. at the Cary Memorial Building, and the Human Services Committee at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Office Building.

4. Today in High School Sports: Hoops and swimming action today for the student athletes at Lexington High: at 4 p.m., the girls junior varsity squad tips off at Whittier Tech High School; at 4:30 p.m., the boys JV hoops team hosts Brighton High School; the girls varsity hoopsters travel to Whittier Tech for a 5:30 p.m. matchup, while the boys varsity hosts Brighton High for a 6 p.m. tip and, finally, at 6 p.m., the boys varsity swimming squad hosts Central Catholic.
5. Bring an Umbrella: Showers are likely today and highs could hit the mid-40s, according to the Naitonal Weather Service, which predicts a chance of more rain before 8 p.m. before the skies become partly cloudy and temperatures slip to the upper 30s.
