Rep. Kaufman to Hold Candidate Forum

Meet the candidates for the 5th Congressional District this Monday.

State Rep. Jay Kaufman will be holding a candidate forum on his award-winning public policy forum "Open House" with the candidates for the 5th Congressional District.

According to a post on Kaufman's blog, the "Meet the Candidates" forum will be held on Monday, Sept. 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cary Hall on 1605 Massachusetts Avenue in Lexington Center.

The candidates are vying to replace Congressman Ed Markey who filled John Kerry's senate seat. There is a Special Election Primary scheduled for October 15.

The five major Democratic candidates vying for the right to advance to the Special Election Final on December 10th are State Senator William Brownsberger (D-Belmont), State Senator Katherine Clark (D-Melrose), Middlesex County Sheriff Peter Koutoujian(D-Waltham), State Senator Karen Spilka (D-Ashland), and State Representative Carl Sciortino (D-Medford).

"Come hear from the candidates and learn their positions on the issues that concern you," the blog states. "As always, the forum will take its shape largely from questions from the audience."
