Cary Memorial Library Presents "Welcome to the Graveyard"

Cary Memorial Library invites you to join us for a virtual tour of Lexington's historic cemeteries with  cemetery historian Brenda Sullivan.  Founder of the 'Gravestone Girls,' Brenda will provide a fun and informative 90-minute presentation about cemetery art, history and symbolism, focused on the unique and interesting burial places found in Lexington.

Brenda will chart the evolution of our local Lexington cemeteries from the colonial era into the 21st century, and will illustrate her talk with many photographs. She will also provide handouts, examples of the sources used in her research,  and will show samples of gravestone artwork castings.  Special highlights of early, notable resident's gravestones will be included!
