Lexington on the Hunt for Its New Superintendent

The search is on for a new leader at the Lexington schools.

The Lexington School Committee has opened its search for a new superintendent of schools.

On Feb. 25, Superintendent Dr. Paul Ash announced his retirement that would be effective on June 30, 2015. The Lexington School Committee began the task of hiring a new superintendent on April 10, 2014, at a training session with Glenn Koocher, executive director of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees.

At its May 8 meeting, the committee voted to issue a Request For Proposals (RFP) for a superintendent search consultant. The committee is working with Mary Ellen Dunn, assistant superintendent for Business and Finance Operations, and procurement officer for the school committee, on the scope of work to be included in the RFP, which is tentatively scheduled to be released on June 2 with a goal of awarding the contract on Aug. 1.
