Lexington Prodigy Wins Prestigious Intel Award

William Henry Kuszmaul earned a prize in the 2014 Intel Science Talent Search.

William Henry Kuszmaul, a 17-year-old Lexington High School student, this month won a prestigious award from Intel.

Kuszmaul earned third place in the 2014 Intel Science Talent Search, which was held in Washington, D.C. He won $50,000 as part of the prize.

Kuszmaul was recognized for "combining math and computer programming in the study of modular enumeration, which has applications in computer science, bioinformatics and computational biology," according to Intel.

About 1,800 high schoolers submitted applications for the contest.
