Lexington has the best public school system in the state, according to the Boston Business Journal.

The publication ranked the top 25 public school systems in Massachusetts.

"We used district-wide MCAS scores for all grade levels as well as SAT and PSAT results to rank the top-performing school districts in Massachusetts," the BBJ article said in describing its criteria. "The scores were weighted to derive a cumulative-test ranking among districts that participate in all three exams."

The Lexington Schools certainly have a reputation for excellence. The realtors are dancing.

Always up to the parents to instill the importance of doing your homework etc. We chose to stay in Waltham and our kids have done extremely well in college due to a good education and well rounded experiences in sports and the music programs. I think test results are misleading and don't tell the whole story, but congrats on the ranking nonetheless.
