When’s the First Day of School in Lexington?

Summer's still in full swing, but it's never too early to start planning for the start of the school year.

The first week of September will be the first week of the 2013-2014 school year for the Lexington Public Schools, according to a school calendar revised and approved last month.

And it’ll be a short week, with no school on Monday, Sept. 2 or Thursday, Sept. 5 in observation of Labor Day and Rosh Hashana, respectively.

Students in grades K-5, all sixth-grade students and all new students will begin the year with a half-day on Tuesday, Sept. 3. It’ll be a full school day for Lexington High’s incoming freshmen.
