Neighboring Butcher Shop Going Independent

The owner of The Meat House in Arlington Heights is breaking off from the national franchise.

The new, independent shop will be called “Prime, Your Local Butcher,” owner Peter Weissman told the Arlington Board of Selectmen Monday.

“We’ve wanted to do this for the last couple years,” he said.

Weissman did not give a timeline for the change. The board authorized The Meat House’s beer and wine license to transfer to the new shop.

Prime, Your Local Butcher will be at 1398 Mass. Ave.

The Meat House, which started in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, in 2003, has 27 locations in 10 states, according to its website.
