Monday Essentials: Fife & Drum Corps Open House, Spooky Stories at the Library

Five things to know about the week ahead.

Welcome to Monday Essentials, our weekly column taking a look at the week ahead. Here are five things to know about this week:

1) Mostly sunny, warmer at week's end 

Looks like we can expect mostly clear skies this week though it will start off a bit cool. According to theNational Weather Service we are in for mostly sunny skies except for a slight chance of showers Wednesday morning. Temperatures will be in the high 50s on Monday and then dip down to around 50 on Tuesday and Wednesday. It will get warmer at the end of the week with temps in the mid 60s on Friday. 

2) Fife & Drum Corps Open House

Do you like music? Parades? History? Are you between the ages of 8 and 18?  Join the William Diamond Junior Fife & Drum Corps and learn to play the fife or drum or march in the color guard. The open house event is on Monday at Cary Hall, Ellen Stone Room, 1st floor (not Cary Library) ~ 1605 Massachusetts Avenue. 

3) Public meetings 

The Board of Selectmen is meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday in the Selectmen Meeting Room. The Lexington 300th Anniversary Celebration Committee is meeting at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the Ellen Stone Room, Cary Memorial Building. Click here for a complete list of public meetings

4) Spooky stories 

The Cary Memorial Library is holding a Spooky Stories session at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Children are invited to come dressed in their Halloween costumes for a Spooky Storytime and Costume Parade.

5) Craft beer tasting on Thursday 

Every Thursday night, Berman's Wine and Spirits hosts a craft beer tasting led by beer manager, Jay. Each week he picks a few of his favorite beers-- new, old, and classic-- and shares them with you. Stop by between 5 and 7 p.m. to sample some craft beers. Free and open to the public (with proper ID).
