Monday Essentials: Halloween Parade, Raising Confident Daughters Conference

Five things to know about the week ahead.

Welcome to Monday Essentials, our weekly column taking a look at the week ahead. Here are five things to know about this week:

1) This week's weather 

Looks like a bit of a mixed bag this week. According to the National Weather Service we will begin the week with sunny skies and a high near 50 degrees. Rain is possible Tuesday and Wednesday but it will also be warmer with highs in the low 60s on Tuesday and mid 50s on Wednesday. The week will end with sunny skies but temps back around 50 degrees. 

2) Public meetings 

The Board of Selectmen is meeting Monday night at 7 p.m. The Planning Board is meeting 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and the Board of Appeals is meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Click here for all public meetings and their locations.

3) Showing of Hidden Pictures film 

Hidden Pictures, a documentary film on global mental health, will be shown at p.m. at the Clarke Middle School auditorium. The event is hosted by Lexington's Health Division and Human Services Department in partnership with a resident mental health professional. The recent Lexington Healthy Communities Survey identified mental health as a top priority public health issue in town. 

4) Raising confident, resilient daughters 

LexFun is holding a us for a presentation and discussion designed to help parents support the social and emotional development of young girls. Parents will learn specific strategies for teaching their daughters effective coping skills, helping girls develop a positive outlook and supporting development of a strong sense of self. The event is on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Temple Emunah. 

5) Parade of horribles

There will be a Halloween Parade on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Lexington Battle Green. Dress up and join the fun. Click here for more details
