Monday Essentials: Holiday Closings and Thanksgiving Football

Five things to know about the week ahead.

Welcome to Monday Essentials, our weekly column taking a look at the week ahead. Here are five things to know about this week:

1) Cold but warmer mid-week

Looks like it will be a mostly winterly week ahead with a small respite mid-week. According to the National Weather Service we can expect temperatures in the low 30s on Monday followed by temps in the low 40s on Tuesday and temps in the low 50s on a rainy Wednesday. On Thanksgiving the temperature will drop back to the low 30s and stay in that range for the rest of the week.

2) Holiday closings

Lexington town offices, state offices and federal offices will be closed on Thursday in observation of Thanksgiving. Lexington schools will have a half-day on Wednesday and be closed on Thursday and Friday for the holiday.

3) Thanksgiving Football

The annual Thanksgiving football game between Lexington and Burlington High Schools will start at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday. Burlington is hosting the game this year at Varsity Field at Burlington High School, 123 Cambridge Street.

4) Thanksgiving dinner at Vine Brook Tavern

Don't want to cook your Thanksgiving dinner this year? Vine Brook Tavern is holding a Thanksgiving buffet on Thursday starting at noon. The cost is $45 for adults at $15 for children under 12. Click here for more information.

5) Historic Houses and Tea Room open Thanksgiving weekend

Two of Lexington's historic house museums--the Hancock-Clarke House (36 Hancock St.) and Munroe Tavern (1332 Mass. Ave.)--will be open for tours over Thanksgiving weekend, Friday November 29th and Saturday November 30th, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Check out more details
