Monday Essentials: Imagination, Concerts, Mosquitoes and More

Here's the scoop on what's happening around Lexington this week.

Welcome to Monday Essentials! Here you'll find a snapshot of a few things you'll want to keep in mind for the week ahead. If you know of something coming up that would make a great addition to Monday Essentials, email lexington@patch.com.

1. This Week's Public Meetings: 
According to the town website, public meetings posted for this week in include: 

  • Monday, Aug. 19 -- Greenways Corridor Committee at 4:30 p.m. at Cary Hall
  • Wednesday, Aug. 21 -- the Retirement Board at 8 a.m. at the Cary Memorial Library, the Conservation Commission at 6:30 p.m. at Cary Hall and the Recreation Committee at 7 p.m. at the Town Office Building
  • Thursday, Aug. 22 -- the Lexington Housing Assistance Board at 7 a.m. at the LexHAB suite on Militia Drive.  
2. Outdoor Summer Concert Series at Youville PlaceAt 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, the Winiker Brothers will perform at Youville Place, as part of the assisted living facility's outdoor concert series. 

3. Learn About Disease-Carrying Mosquitoes: West Nile Virus has been found in a Lexington mosquito pool. The town's threat level remains low, but residents are still encouraged to attend the Board of Health presentation to learn about disease-carrying mosquitoes and ticks from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. this Tuesday, Aug. 20 at the Katahdin Woods Apartments Community Room.

4. Lexington Bicentennial Band Summer ConcertThe last Lexington Bicentennial Band Summer Concert of the season is at 7:15 p.m. this Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Hastings Park. 

5. 
Imagination FestivalAt 10 a.m. this Saturday, Aug. 25 over in Concord, The Learning Experience is hosting an Imagination Festival featuring art, music, sports, food, games and more at its location at 130 Baker Ave Ext.
