Monday Essentials: Used Book Sale, Craft Beer Tasting

Five things to know about the week ahead.

Welcome to Monday Essentials, our weekly column taking a look at the week ahead. Here are five things to know about this week:

1) Cooler temperatures ahead 

Looks like we can't deny it, winter is coming. According to theNational Weather Service we can expect cloudy skies on Veterans Day with a high near 49 degrees. It will then get sunnier late in the week but the temperatures will dip into the high 30s mid-week before rising to around 51 on Friday. Overnight temperatures this week will be in the mid to high 20s. 

2) Public meetings 

The Capital Expenditures Committee is meeting on Tuesday at 8 a.m. in the Town Office Building- Parker Room (G15). The Housing Authority is meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the Lexington Housing Authority- Community Room. Click here for the full list of public meetings

3) Graduate programs open house 

Minuteman Technical Institute will be hosting several Open Houses once a month for interested students to learn about our post graduate programs and the application process. There is a session on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

4) Book sale 

The Friends of Cary Memorial Library are holding a Gently Used Book Sale in the meeting room on the lower level of the library on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 15, 16 and 17, 2013.  Hours for members only are Friday, 1-5 p.m. and Saturday, 9-10 a.m.  The sale is open to the public on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. 

5) Craft beer tasting on Thursday 

Every Thursday night, Berman's Wine and Spirits hosts a craft beer tasting led by beer manager, Jay. Each week he picks a few of his favorite beers-- new, old, and classic-- and shares them with you. Stop by between 5 and 7 p.m. to sample some craft beers. Free and open to the public (with proper ID).
