5 Things to Do in Lexington This Weekend

Find something to do!

Summer's cranking in, and there's plenty to do in your backyard (in the case of this week, literally).

1. Lexington Arts and Crafts opens the Into the Woods exhibit, which is by the Woodworkers and Photographers Guilds. This exhibit hangs in the gallery from June 28 to July 13, but enjoy the special opening reception on Sunday, June 29, from 1-3 p.m. It includes a gallery talk by Michael Pekovich, art director, Fine Woodworking.

2. Join thousands across the country for the Great American Campout on Saturday night. This article talks about why to do it, how to do it, and a list of Massachusetts sites that are celebrating the annual summer event.

3. The Countryside Bible Chapel in Lexington kicks off its annual Weird Animals VBS on June 29, which continues through July 3. At this kids camp, they'll experience cool Bible adventures, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, and make and dig into yummy treats.

4. Jungle Jim presents "How to Catch a Mouse: Simple Machines at Work" at the Cary Library in Lexington on Saturday, June 28, at 2:30 p.m. This is a show combining math, science, and art, How to Catch a Mouse teaches students simple machines at work using balloons to create a Rube Goldberg-style mouse trap.

5. Like to contra dance? There's one on Friday, June 27, featuring live music by Roaring Jelly at the First Parish Church in Lexington. You needn't any experience, and this features traditional contra.
