MOTH Type Performance, 'A Change in the Weather', This Weekend

Get the details on this weekend event.

The following is a release on a weekend event in Lexington:

Souled Out Artists, a collaborative group of writers and artists, present their new works in “A Change in the Weather,” an evening of stories, at the next Munroe Saturday Nights event.  The performance will take place on Saturday, January 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Community of Christ, 1386 Massachusetts Avenue in Lexington, across the street from the Munroe Center for the Arts, in order to accommodate a larger audience.

Souled Out Artists offers performances in a vein similar to the wildly popular MOTH Radio Hour shows, where artists present their original stories on stage in front of a live audience.  Souled Out Artists include an acclaimed group of performers, including Steven Bogart (former drama teacher at Lexington High School, director of the American Repertory Theatre’s revival of “Cabaret,” and visual artist); Ana Hebra Flaster (whose writing has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered, and has been published in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Boston Sunday Globe Magazine as well as regional newspapers); and Lexington resident C. Anthony Martignetti, whose recently-published “Lunatic Heroes: Memories, Lies and Reflections,” is a collection of dark, comic, raw and often redemptive tales, taking the reader  from the 1950s to the present as the author looks back at a complex life full of shadows and light, gods, lunatics and heroes.

Other Souled Out Artists members include Lexington’s Ted Page, Karen Russell, and Kevin Connolly; Sara Coletti; Nivi Nagiel; Denise DaCosta Shea; and Paul Trainor.  All reside in the greater Lexington area.

The group, which works as a collaborative, describes their process as one in which they “sing, paint, play, share, and perform.”  Their performance for Munroe Saturday Nights is free (donations to support Munroe Saturday Nights gratefully accepted) and due to mature content, is best suited for audience members sixteen years of age or older.
