Bicycling, walking, jogging, in-line skating, cross-country skiing are allowed; no motorized vehicles are allowed except for powered wheelchairs. The bikeway is plowed during the winter in Arlington and Lexington.
In Lexington, the Bikeway is overseen by the Lexington Bicycle Advisory Committee, via the Board of Selectmen's Office. In 2008, the Minuteman Bikeway inducted into Rail-Trail Hall of Fame.
