Congressional Hopeful Jeff Semon Launches Spanish Language Site

A Lexington Republican seeking to unseat Democrat Ed Markey in the 5th District, Jeff Semon says "common sense knows no language or ethnic barrier," in announcing the launch of jeffen2012.com

During campaign season, candidates choose their words wisely. And Lexington Republican Jeff Semon, a congressional candidate in Massachusetts' Fifth District, hopes one letter can make a lot of difference as he attempts to unseat Democrat Ed Markey. In an attempt to reach more residents in more communities, Semon has launched jeffen2012.com, a Spanish language campaign website he says is the first by a major candidate in Massachusetts. His standard website is jeffin2012.com. “Today is the beginning of the end of empty promises and political pandering to the voters of Massachusetts’ 5th District.” Semon said in a statement. The website debut, a move touted by party officials, came earlier this month  in Framingham when Semon partnered with …

Republican Congressional Hopefuls Take Aim at Markey, the Economy at Watertown Event

The two GOP candidates running for the 5th Congressional District spoke to voters at the Shutt Detachment this week.

Two Republican candidates for Massachusetts’ 5th Congressional District say 36 years is enough for Democrat Edward Markey, and they want to cut spending by the Federal government and improve the economy. Lexington’s Jeff Semon and Frank Addivinola of Malden met with GOP supporters in Watertown this week at a Meet the Candidates night at the Marine Corps League’s Shutt Detachment. Addivinola said Markey has lost touch with what the public wants, and criticized his support of environmental regulations. “Markey says environmental regulations stimulates job growth,” Addivnola said. “ I object to that – regulations impede progress.” In an MSNBC interview Markey said he believes jobs are created by driving innovation in new technology to meet …

The following announcement was provided by the campaign for Jeff Semon, a Lexington Republican seeking to unseat U.S. Rep. Ed Markey in the 5th Congressional District. Jeff Semon, a Republican candidate for the 5th Congressional District, is proud to announce that former chairman of the Melrose Republican City Committee Scott Conway has endorsed his candidacy. Semon is running to restore fiscal responsibility to Washington and return robust economic growth to America. Conway ended his chairmanship of the Melrose RCC coinciding with the state committee elections held in March. “In 2012, Jeff Semon represents our best chance to build a positive path for the future” Conway said. Congressional Redistricting Plans Mean Little to Lexington

District would change names from 7th to 5th and see some boundary fluctuation, but little impact to Lexington.

In name is the only change Lexington will see under a proposed congressional redistricting plan for the Massachusetts representatives to the U.S. House that would Rep. Ed Markey’s 7th district renamed as the 5th. Under the proposed plan, Markey, D-Malden, would continue to represent Lexington, though his boundary lines would change a little. If all goes according to plan, Markey’s district would gain expand west to include the towns of Ashland, Holliston, Sherborn and Southborough. To the east, Markey would pick up a sliver of Cambridge from, and lose Everett to, Rep. Michael Capuano. Jeff Semon, a Lexington resident and potential republican challenger to Markey in 2012, said the potential redistricting would not impact his campaign …

Neil, Krugman and Keynesians like him are responsible for much of the economic turmoil we have seen recently. Their policies are counterproductive and come out of an academic environment with little perspective of real world effects. His academic pedigree does not defeat the strength of my arguments. We need leaders in Washington who understand how business functions, not detached theories that …   more ›
