Lexington's 300th: Taking the All-Town Photograph

Some photos of the leadup to the Lexington's 300th all-town photo, shot with a fancy camera by Boston Globe photogs hoisted up in a bucket truck.

Between the opening ceremonies and Country Fair, thousands of locals gathered inside the track to take an all-town photograph. As the crowd came together, Lexingtonians young and old were entertained by the Air Force Band of Liberty's rock band, Afterburner. Lexington's 300th: It's Finally Here

The big, nine-month birthday bash kicks off this weekend with festivities throughout town. We're breaking down the what, the when, the where and the how.

Tomorrow begins a celebration 300 years in the making.  From the sold-out opening ceremonies on Saturday morning through the Lexington Symphony’s world premiere on Sunday afternoon, this weekend marks the start of a nine-month birthday bash celebrating the town’s tercentennial anniversary. With events going on across town throughout the weekend, we're breaking down the what, the when, the where and the how. Opening Ceremony: Attendees of the sold out opening ceremonies will enjoy Lexington's talented musicians, singers, poets, performers, and a few surprises before the Cary Hall crowd migrates over to LHS for a community sing-a-long of "Happy Birthday." Lexington's 300th: How Many Lexingtonians Does It Take to Fill the Track?

Find out this Saturday at the All-Town Photograph as part of the Lexington's 300th kick-off festivities.

The following was provided by the Lexington's 300th Committee. We know it's a busy day, but you won't want to be left out of the All-Town Photograph! No matter what else you are doing on Saturday, Sept. 22, plan to be in the center of the track for a brief stopover at 11:45 a.m. There will be live music by Hanscom's rock band, the Afterburners, and there are rumors of a flash dance while people are gathering, so don't be late! Two photographers will be ready to take panoramic pictures of all of us gathered inside the track around noon to commemorate the start of Lexington's birthday celebration. Parking will be at a premium, so plan to take a shuttle from one of the satellite lots, ride your bike to the bike corral by the pool or walk -- …
